When you get familiar with the story, you can continue:

We are going to work with the time. What happened first, what happened next... The easiest way to do it is with a timeline like this: 

(You can make it bigger if you cannot see it well.)

From there, we can build a scheme with the main words. When we have these important words, we can make sentences so the story starts to make sense. At the end of the lesson, you will be able to resume the story with a great text structure made by yourselves.

This is an example, you can take it or you can use a new scheme. With your scheme, try to follow the steps and try to retell the story your way.
